"What's your greatest weakness?"

An incredibly common question in interviews is "What is your greatest weakness?" This is a difficult question to answer because if you don't answer well it could give the wrong impression about you as an employee. It's one of those questions that can often make a candidate freeze in the interview.

I believe in finding the strength in the weakness. From experience I know it's easier said, than done. I have dyslexia and I can't write one sentence without grammar or spelling mistake to save my life. But, I can think out side the box and come-up with creative ideas and solve complex problems. In the past, I used to hide my dyslexia during job interviews, but it always became obvious once I got the job and then I felt embarrassed. With time, I learn to sell positive side of the dyslexia (creativity...) and be up-front with it.

Is that I care too much for the company and its success. I preach the values and greatness of any company I work for. That is the best answer I usually use.

Tell them your greatest weakness is that you are your own biggest critic. You always strive for perfection, which is not always possible. We all make mistakes from time to time. The key is that you learn from your mistakes so not to repeat them. Trust me. It'll make their head spin. In a good way of course.

Tell them that you will work hard at making sure it not becoming an issue. Also, sometimes a weakness can be one of your strengths. I know I am tenacious, but sometimes I am so tenacious that it becomes a distraction.

Thanks for this info! That’s typically one of the last questions I have to answer after I’ve been telling the interviewer how great I am and they should hire me..
