Sometimes companies (read: people) make promises they can't keep--or promises they meant to keep at the time that just didn't end up turning out that way. Just know that someone somewhere intended to hire you, it just didn't shake out that way. If you're unable to talk to someone at the company to give you a chance despite your lacking qualifications, do the gracious thing and bow out. Take the 6 mo experience and take that to a new company either for more temp work or a permanent position.
