Certified Nurses Assistant And Unit Assistant at Genesis Medical Center

United Health Care

I have done 3 over the phone interviews with them and taken numerous tests. I have Customer Service experience and I am now working at a hospital part time. I also have a Bachelor's degree but for some reason United Health Care keeps telling me that they are pursing other candidates. How do you get on with them as a Customer Service Representative.

Dear Peggy: My guess is that UHC is looking for the youngest candidate with the least experience, so that they can train the candidate as a true Robopath, human robot, because the candidate knows no better. Because of the sloppiness of their hiring; just keep sending a resume; maybe in a different format, and a YouTube of you acting the job of a customer service representative, with making sure you include the quality standards, of greeting and salutations, with different twists each month.

I have applied to them for a few different positions mainly Utilization Review. I am a RN with a MSN. The past 5 years I spent in higher education teaching and supervising programs that deal with insurances, current healthcare issues, and teaching/practicing clinical skills. My hold up seems to be I have been "out of practice" for 5 years. I am beyond frustrated hiring managers think I have "lost" my nursing skills and stress this to me in interviews. It is truly sad as they are missing out on a very knowledgeable and highly skilled individual because of their erroneous thinking. In this day and age where simulation labs are considered the same as practicing in a healthcare environment...hiring managers need to wake up.

My wife says it's tough to get in (she works for them and got the same response trying to change departments)..if a company doesn't want me then it's their loss; I just move on and don't spend too much time reflecting unless I need to change something to be a great candidate with someone that will appreciate the value I bring (basically, the competitors) Mariah brings up a good point about requesting feedback but I really don't thing they'll provide any good insights because they will be more worried about avoiding law suits.

Retail Sales and Service

I had the same experience with AT&T. I applied for the exact same CSR job for over six months and they sent me the same message but on the final attempt I got a application follow-up email. I just make some keyword changes here and there on my resume until I was able to match up with what they were looking for. It's hard to tell what there's looking for in job applicants every time they post job openings.

Hi Peggy, sorry to hear you've been having trouble landing a job with them. Is it possible to ask (in a respectful way, of course!) why they're not choosing you for the job? I think it's worth getting the feedback, which can help you with your job search in the future.
