I am at a lost
A job i recently applied to may not be able to hire me because my last place of employment wont give me a reference, they told the company they could not confirm nor denied i work there, with out a job reference i cannot get a job even at mc donalds or jack in the box, i have denied my unemployment and now no job referance, i will soon be a Sr. Citizen living on the streets, l am feeling lost and little betrayed
What do you mean you have denied your unemployment? Are you saying you turned down collecting unemployment or that you were denied the benefit?
You can get a job at fast food without a reference. They hire people with zero work experience, so they aren't calling people for references. So, that part is a tad dramatic, but I understand.
If you need a reference, reach out to a former co-worker if your boss or the HR department isn't willing to give one. It is not your fault if a previous employer won't give a reference. Some places simply don't do it. The company you applied to shouldn't hold that against you. Let them know you can provide references from other employers and personal references to attest to your character.
