Was in a bad car accident and have been out of work due to a brain injury. I am being terminated for not being back within a year of my accident. Once I am cleared to work by my Neuro doctor, can I collect unemployment until I find a job?
Yes you can and as matter of fact see if you're eligible to receive coverage or copay from your insurance. Plus it would also be helpful if you can tell the insurance agencies about the employers and services provided at the workplace on why'd you were let go after your accident.
As to my knowledge YES you can, being terminated does not disqualify a person from unemployment especially when medical issues were the reason. Now what will disqualify from receiving benefits is voluntary quitting. So you should have no problem. Good luck & GOD Bless in ur recovery. Also look into permanent disability.

But of course you can. Show them medical records and how long it took you to try to go back to work but then you were fired.
Absolutely you can, go to your local office such as Work one or job, task force reinstatement and give a limited amount of personal information, sign in and they can assist you in the process Lori. This hits home for me because I've too suffered actually numerous traumatic brain injuries myself and simply couldn't get hired in a lasting career again! Also just to say ministry is my calling and has been since I was young and couldn't be happier and in the world condition now is my personal choice, because not everyone can reach every1; it takes people like us! So, please never let anyone convince you that you can't because you CAN... You are smart you are kind and you are beautiful my sister. Since my brain injuries, I've batted tremendously with depression, addiction, anger, suicidal tendencies nd the like but, can tell you that with everything in me you can truly do what you set your mind to and it may take more concentration nd a little more time but; you're a daughter of the most high God nd YES U CAN! If you can not work try to get disability check you already have your doctors reports.
Of course you can get unemployment if you apply. You can get state disability. Your doctor puts you on it. If all that runs out you can get federal disability but you have to apply for that. A doctor can't put you on it.

If you have proof of brain injury , then you can receive temp disability, but you have to have proof, and a doctor saying that you can not continue employment until you are better. I am guessing since your doctor has not yet there is possibly more to this story? I was in a car accident 7 years ago, and suffered TBI and was on disability with in two months.
