What made me stay @ #DownstreamCasinoResort was
The property is amazing. The leadership is a bit difficult. Specifically, the Chairman of the Quapaw tribe has hired and fired 9 marketing directors in 10 years thus leaving in place a singular administrative assistant to carry out admin tasks for marketing. I discourage sexism in the workplace or promoting, however, it does exist and it is difficult to prove in cases for men. The marketing admin assistant is an attractive woman that is loyal to the chairman. The chairman is above the general manager in all things including directing a $10 per hour admin assistant. Over the years, of course, she has gained leverage in knowledge and uses it as a weapon along with her "special" relationship with the chairman. This does on reading as if I had an interpersonal relationship issue with her but the facts are simple, nine directors plus marketing staff turn over in ten years and she is the only one to survive all of them making less than $35,000 a year. This is only one example of the typical leadership examples from the chairman. It is possible the chairman will be voted out in July 2018. If this happens I would strongly recommend working for Downstream Casino Resort. Please keep in mind, the chairman controls every department and every employee is at his discretion to fire at will with absolutely zero human resource department intervention, direct supervisor intervention and or the director's knowledge and intervention. I have personally witnessed him fire a General Manager all the way down to an hourly wage employee. This is no small property, 1100 employees. The demand and necessity of a properly functioning management team is essential. General Manager on down walk in absolute abject fear when the chairman walks the halls or the casino floor. I would greatly return to the property and work for them again but not until a change in leadership occurs.
