I'm fairly new in the shipping industry. Started with a company that I thought had two drown fall the company was heartland ex. 1 St not running me the hours I would like, 80 percent of my drive hr should be yoused 3000 per week. 2 I told them my goals to see the USA all 48 states I came out of the oil field, too OTR , I'm a vet stayed most of my life raising kid in MT, I want to see what I definded. Gave them over a year and half never got off the west coast do I said my good-byes. Went to work for a different company now I'm worse off then I was seeing the country but not getting the MLS Thinking back every time I needed to get a job done right I had to do it myself, so I'm thinking of independent, getting my own tractor, lease to purchase. But there alot of scammers out there is there a honorable way to do this please give me in put

The more control you have, the better. Remember when a company finances an O/O setup, they do it all for their best advantage. Everything is written to their advantage. They will drive the wheels off your rig.

I get good miles & flexible time off I make as much as .51¢ a mile with our bonuses, because I've taken a little bit of time off I'm making just under $60,000.00 this year.... Trucks come with Refrigerator & inverter, Satilght T.V. ?, you take time off where ever you want "stay away from the Automatics"... "Sweet Express" - Grand Rapids MI.

Basically, I'd say you should have a few more years experience before you seriously think of going O/O. I did that for about 7 years, and I'd never do it again. Too many things you just can't control, expense-wise. Leasing to a carrier? You're best to have your own customers lined up you work with regular. When you're an O/O a couple of slow paying customers can make it pretty tough. Leasing to companies, you'd think, would be a way to get around that, but that can be pretty risky, too. Don't buy your own truck unless you can pay for it or finance it yourself.
