I have a choose a shift for a new job and 3rd shift looks like it’s doable but I don’t know how much of a life change to expect.
Night shift would be OK , if part time and depending on job!
I think I would work both and it could be if you aren't used to sleeping schedule
It depends dude! Does the shift pay a differential? Do you need the extra money? What is your life like? Are you married? If so, does your spouse work? If so, what is her schedule like? Do you have kids? What days would you be working? I worked 3rd shift for 13 years. My wife is a stay at home mom and we homeschool our kids, so for me it was kind of nice being able to be home with my entire family during the day. I worked odd days though. My work week began on Saturday night and ended on Wednesday morning. At first it seemed like it would be cool, always having a three day weekend, but the truth was that Wednesdays were always a bust for me. I was so tired. I was sleeping in the day for four days in the week and then at night for the other three. My body had a hard time adjusting. Another issue that I found with those days that it was hard to participate in any events that took place outside of my family. My "weekend" was in the middle of everyone else's work week. Then when the regular weekend came around and my family would be invited to functions, I had to opt out because I was either working or sleeping to go to work. As you can see, there are a lot of variables to consider depending on your own individual life style!
If ya have little kids at home or you're in a busy neighborhood, don't expect to sleep 7 hours a contiguous. Dismiss your social life, too. The anti- social & Type B personality folks prefer night shift, though.
if your body can adjust then no. I worked a day and night swing shift for 7 years and did fine. it does affect people in different ways. I say try it and find out. i liked nights better because there are fewer distractions. Later on if you can handle nights it might pay off as a lot of employers offer higher pay for nights verses days.

I had to work 3rd shift from a work-at-home desk job for several months and despised it. You always feel like you're getting sick. It's hard to sleep when the rest of the world is on a day schedule - lawn people, callers, garbage men, your family.... I found most days I got about 4 hours of sleep. You need to examine your non-work life to see if it can accommodate your new sleep schedule.
No sir the day shift isn't going to be harder than the night shift I'm usually better at night anyways but anything right now is good for me but thank you so much for the opportunity and I will be at work tomorrow before 5 o'clock
Richard Jones. Jobcase commentator. Give the Night Shift a try and see if you like it, and if it works for you. If you can handle the late hours as you do the day hours then its for you. Never cloud your mind with defeat of failure because, you will fall into that area of failure and hopelessness in life. Always stay positive and tell yourself. Let me try this and see if it works. You may love the 3rd Shift better than the 1st Shift early in the morning or later in the morning during daylight hours. Give it a try friend ?
I have worked midnight to 8am for yrs, for the federal gov. I work that shift, because i can attend any function that my children jave at school, if i work days, managememt says we do not have a relieve for you, sonyoi can't take off, if they are sick I'm there, you just have to find a sleep pattern that works for you, some sleep as soon as they get home, some sleep at 11, some wait till 2pm, your body will tell you which works best. I gonto bed at 9 sleep to 12pm then lay back down around 8pm to 11pm, if i can
