Hello,, I guess you could say I lucked into getting into the medical field if you would call being a purchasing agent then working out in the laboratory being IN the medical field. I have no certificates of schooling but I worked for National Health Labs/LabCorp for 17 years in the purchasing department loving every minute of it . Then after we were acquired by Roche Diagnostics they closed our purchasing and it went to Burlington NC . I worked out in the lab in a department they called Specimen Management. We pulled and added test coeds requested by clients to existing specimen samples we already had re accessioned the specimen and sent them on to be tested. We located specimens that the techs could not find. Whether it be a name discrepancy, wrong sample submitted or just lost in the lab. We notified client when sample was incorrect . It was a detailed process and all processes took 7 people and two shifts for the department to run well. I really liked being in this environment but it seems I cannot find anything like this or in a purchasing department in the Kentuckiana area. I live in Jeffersonville Indiana and can work in either Indiana or Kentucky ( Louisville area). Does anyone have any suggestions? Please! My current job at Rural King is killing me.
