I decided to work for Marriott Monterey because...
My wife was getting promoted to the Hyatt Regency Monterey from Washington DC Hyatt Regency. I was working for the Hyatt Dulles in Virgina. I had to leave Hyatt after 28 years in order for my wife to work in Monterey. We could not work together at Hyatt, so I quit Hyatt to let her pursue her career. Marriott heard I was moving here and called me to set up an interview. Upon my arrive in Monterey, I interviewed with Marriott, and I liked the system in place where as the Chef I was responsible for my department. The GM was truly concern for the employees. If you take care of your people, they will take care of the customer. I had one boss to report to. I had to take a dip in pay, but it was all about working for a large Hotel company, something I have been doing since I was 21.
Sounds like you had a great experience working for Marriott. What is the one lesson or piece of advice you would give to someone applying for this company?
