Help

I recently got my Bachelores of Science in Criminal justice degree. I have only worked in the food industry as a dietary aide. I also have a crime scene investigation certificate (dream job.) The field is so competitive. I live in Wyoming, MI. Any advice?

For decades, the heros in Cop Dramas have been the Cops. As a new twist, there has been a push to make the lab people heros in these dramas. Now there is an uptick in the number of CSI applicants. Everyone and their brother Fred want to be the next Abby.

You might need to move to a new town with less competition.

Emily, If you had moved I know their looking for a lot of people in the Criminal Justice field here, in Kansas. Salina KS & McPherson KS are looking for individuals with criminal justice. If you can and can't find work, you know I'd move to a different state only if you would like and just giving you my own opinion and advice. Good Luck Emily! :)

From what I've heard, there are many different facets to crime scene investigation. Which one do you want to be a part of? I would look at others who have traveled the path toward the career you want and see what steps they took. What kinds of skills do they possess? Maybe you can even network and talk to one of them. Seek out those who can give you the best guidance and maintain connections with those in your field. Having a network is invaluable.
