Time unemployed

In the last 2 years I have been officially unemployed and I was wanting to know how to account for the time away from working. Thank you, Mike

Hi Mike,

I guess it matters what you are looking to do. If you want to dive back into a prior field of work, start applying for positions and maybe talk to ex-coworkers and see if they have any advice. If you are looking to jump into a new career field, I would start applying to some more entry level type positions, that way you can get your foot in the door and work your way up. There are a lot of jobs out there, just keep your head up and start applying!

Good luck,

Mark

Well, Mike, what have you been doing in the last two years? The things to focus on would be how you helped others, or how you spent time bettering yourself. Even taking a free online class in that time would be helpful for employers to know. You want to show that you didn't just spend those two years on the couch, you spent them doing worthwhile things, like taking care of an ailing parent.

And if you did spend those two years on the couch, now's your time to pick yourself up by the bootstraps and start going to job fairs and learning all you can! You don't have to tell an interviewer that you just started doing that yesterday, just tell them you've been working on bettering yourself!
