Food Server at Server Marcha Bacchus

It has to get better

So the latest upsetting news on my 5 month job search for new employment took place last week at a very reputable restaurant group that owns Lawrys Prime Rib among other restaurants throughout country. My Friend who works at Lawrys basically set me up with first interview back in late July.I applied as server and had brief interview with a mgr who told me that starting late September they have tremendous business as they are close to strip and do heavy convention business and to expect call around that time frame.Well I got the call last week to come in to interview with another mgr.I could not have asked for better interview as I passed and was praised by mgr about wine knowledge, past employment and basically that I would be good fit as a server. We actually ended up knowing a few people in same circles and we even talked about high school as we attended same one.He went on to say that the company likes each potential hire to interview with every mgr and then as a group they have input on who to hire.He told me at least for him it would be just a formality to offer me job but I would need to come back Friday and speak to Wendy which was the 3rd and last mgr to interview me.Again the interview went extremely well I answerred correctly most if not all of food knowledge questions and we really hit it off and I stayed about 30 min after formal interview and just chatted as her father worked at Caesars Palace in same dept as my father and I was just super comfortable and could tell at very least she was pleased. She actually gave me tour of restaurant and showed me where everything was located and how a typical night would be like there. She even mentioned how the training protocol is and what to expect.I left and she said to definitely expect her call Tuesday.I was thrilled.I was so happy about my chances....and then Tuesday comes.NO CALL.I start to worry but just a little because I kept thinking what was said and how great the interviews went.Well I called Wednesday and spoke to Wendy the Mgr.She said she was extremely sorry but the position had been filled and that if new hire didn't pan out or had trouble during training she would hold on to my info and blah blah blah..I was stunned.I am convinced now that something on my resume isn't checking out or maybe they ran background check on me before official offer and something came up that disqualified me.I will be totally honest.I have had some run ins with police but they are all misdeameanors such as DUI about 10 years ago,I got into a fight that was a battery charge that was dismissed after a year of stay out of trouble and pay fine and the last year or so I had a bench warrant for an unpaid traffic ticket that has since been paid. Can anyone share their opinions on what might have happened? How can I find out what issue is?Is there any chance I could call Lawrys and ask what I could possibly do to improve myself or see if there is problem with resume that sent them red flag. I feel comfortable enough asking Wendy or Bruce the two Mgfs I last spoke to.Im so fed up I just want to know if there is something on my end I can do.Thank you in advance everyone.

I am sorry that happened to you especially since your hopes were so high. Do you have contact information for the managers? If you have an email for them I would contact each one and thank them for the opportunity, reiterate how you would love to work for their company, and then ask what set the candidate they ultimately chose, apart from you? If it had something to do with the other persons experience or skill you will know or If it is related to the blemish on your record, you will also have that information. You will gain a valuable resource from their responses because then you will know what areas if any, you need to work on.

Nothing's guaranteed if you got the job until you signed the hire letter. Did you ever call and find out why you weren't hired?

Wow, I'm so sorry that happened, Javier. I would definitely give them another call and ask what it is you could improve next time to be offered the job. Especially since it sounds like they were already offering you the job at the interviews.
