Shelly’s Story: What did you say??
Sometimes an interviewer will make an off-color comment or joke that really tips us off about what they think about us. When Shelly was interviewing for a Lab Technician position, her interviewer dropped a comment on her that set her alarm bells ringing! Shelly says:
She kept telling me that their is a lot of walking with the job. I said Okay. As I was walking back to the trailer with her she made a comment You know as you age your body slows down and you can not walk as fast as you used too. I am 55 years old.
What would you say or do if you were in Shelly’s shoes? Have you experienced something similar?

Age is a number! You have to work. As you get older you need to work smarter not harder. Evaluate your skills. Search for employment that will fit you. Remember pray first.

You start out by saying that an interviewer will make an off-color joke or remark, which didn't actually occur in this statement. Instead, it sounded like a comment about aging. Like some of the other comments here, I think walking depends on one's fitness level. Age 55 isn't too old to be able to walk at a decent pace. In fact, it's good for you.

Sometimes it's better to be patient.

Is it easy to be employed abroad without spending money on air ticket and Visa? I can work in a farm as weed control. I have tried even free visa I haven't got any.My name.Kajumba Yasin Kakooza From Africa

I'm 50 and 2 jobs in my feet for both, plus workout,I would have ask her ,why you say that have you been having problems, make her think about her own age..in a nice but sarcastic way to her.

I'm 59 and my walking speed is a millennial sprint.....

Define "off-color"? BTW, the word is "there" not "their". The fact that you did not correct it tells me something.

I'm looking for neither general labor or machinery work that's easy

I really tired of people thinking that once you turn 40 + you’re ready for retirement and the rocking chair!!..I had no idea that people are especially biased with women’s age..it’s crazy!..I would’ve told her I don’t know what you’re talking about..
Tell that to these Companies today and see what they say?.
