Scam
Was called about a government grant and they asked for a prepaid card # and so I gave them 1 didn't think anything of it when I go to my account on my prepaid card it show the amount that they took to make sure the card was active nothing 24 hours later no grant $ has been loaded up was given a confirmation and an id number for the $ said once the money was deposited I'd get a call back to make sure it was on the card and then I'd also get an email told the guy I didn't remember filing for a grant but with applying like mad for jobs it's hard to tell if 1 of the pop ups was for a grant or college or what ever else has come across just to get to the application for said job. It will show up as Usfundclub.com Orem Utus They will ask u to make sure there is 5 dollars on the card I'm thinking that they were wanting a credit card or debit card just beware think this is a new scam getting a new prepaid card asap

how much did they get you for if you don't mind me asking

wow that sucks. I'm sorry. My mother had the IRS scam attempt to get her for 5k. Stating that she owed from the passed and an officer would be arriving in a day or two to arrest her if she didn't call them and make some kind of payment. I said hold on mom stop freaking out. #1 IRS is never gonna call you directly unless you called them first and they are returning your call. She gave me the call back number and sure enough the man answered and I said so what do you need us to do ? you need a credit card number ? he said yes I said its 152 get F**ked and when on telling him to get a real job ...then he started talking crap so I said that's fine I've recorded your voice long enough ....I suggest you run and he hung up.

Hi Christy, oh dear that sounds like a bad experience! I'm so sorry that happened to you. I didn't actually know anything about Government Grant Scams, but according to this article (https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0113-government-grant-scams) you can actually file a complaint with the FTC about this if you like. There's information further down on the page about what you can do from here on out. Thanks for warning the community!

good job you really stayed on top of it all.
