Opinions Needed !

So I've been asked to come to an orientation at Marshalls which is super awesome, but during the interview the manager told me I'd only be able to do part time based on my hours and that I'd probably only be able to get 12 hours a week or less!!

I've also recently interviewed at Dicks Sporting Goods and was told to wait for about a week to see if I'd hear back from them for a second interview and from what I got from that interview it seems I'd be working from 9-5 everyday except Sunday which would be way more hours than what the manager at Marshalls initially told me I'd most likely get.

Should I go through the orientation at Marshalls and wait and see if it's possible to be given more hours or should I not even bother and continue job searching and hope that Dicks contacts me again?

Notes:

  • I ride the bus so bus schedules factor in to my job finding
  • I really need to find a job soon that has good hours as I need to help my mom with bills since we're very low on money at the moment

I would say go through the orientation. Worst case, you have to resign to accept the other job. Or you have a job with not enough hours, so you keep looking.

I can relate though. My unemployment ran out, so I applied for and got a customer service job that required two weeks of orientation. But I kept applying for other positions. Two days into training, I was offered a temp assignment paying more money that was to start Monday. So I gave them three days notice. They took me aside at the lunch break and let me go. There was no point in my continuing in their training sessions.
