Getting Terminated for being Sick
Hi Kevin I need some advice badly. I was out sick trying to qualify for Long Term Disability because my doctors advice me to. I did everything my company, LTD, and my doctors told me to do. My company told me that if LTD did not approve me I would be terminated. LTD sent me a strange letter which did not approve me. So now I am looking for a new job but I don't know what to say for leaving my job after 12 plus years. This has been a horrible time in my life to say the least. Thank you.
I'm so sorry that happened to you, Saprena! I would advise you to talk not an employment lawyer about what happened to get a professional opinion on the legality of your former company's actions. Some lawyers will often provide their initial consultation for free, so make sure you check for that when you look into it. Best of luck!
Thank you so much. I spoke to one lawyer and he said go to EEOC. I am so tired of all this negative things happening to me, I just want to get a job so I can get regular income. Unemployment is giving me a hard time because I was fired for being sick. I need to get a divorce and get my own place. Getting back on my feet is starting feel impossible . I am just tired and I thank you for positive feedback. I won't give up.
