Out of Work 2 years, Options?
I have been out of work for a little over 2 years now. My previous position was outsourced. After my position ended, I re-opened my IT Service business, having done work on an off for these 2 years, I have yet to receive substantial work that would allow me to continue this business. Many companies are not willing to spend money and unfortunately, without an income the difficult decision to suspend my business has come.
I have re-written my resume 2x in the past several months. A few interviews here and there but no offers.
Recruiters do not get back to me, they do not follow-up even after a resume has been sent or an email. Not sure what else I can do.

Hi Paul - Have you tried Deloitte? They have temporary positions (with chance to go permanent) for candidates that have been out of work for a minimum of 2 years that are trying to get back into the workforce.

Sorry to hear that. What agencies are you applying to and are you limiting yourself to agencies in your state. Also check the black web for it jobs as well many foreign countries look for US educated IT personnel (they out source as well).,Also check the backroom IT hot spots as they always have gamers looking to collaborate on apps, music, job board monitors etc. Good luck

I got a job lead from a cab driver on my way back from an interview. I checked with the company the driver told me about, and I start with Utiliquest tomorrow morning. $13 p/h during training, then $14 p/h. Networking and just talking to people helps sometimes.

I worked for a staffing agency. I found many good jobs based on just a resume. Let me see yours. . I may be able to identify aspects that may be unappealing. Helping because I feel your pain. I'll send my email to receive your resume if you're actually interested. Don't give up because you feel like you're losing.

Goodmorning Shirley how are you feeling fine I hope listen you know I have to start from scratch all I have is my class D driver's license so I want to see if you can hook me up with a good job that I fit its criteria I need a job real bad I need to make real money I have my own apartment but need to make money to buy other things besides rent I will be will be 56 in August which would be the 22nd a guy like me needs to have money n my pockets and I also mainly love to help people like you please get back with me with something that I can work for thank you very much and have a blessed day Shirley

Paul the market is touch.. I suggest networking, volunteering, and reaching out to old contacts. Put pride aside and let people know that you are looking. Believe it or not people are willing to help. Mostly do not give up. I know you were told about truck driving..do your research.. It is not each for someone who is not use to long distance driving and with this the way to make money is to be on the road...just putting that out there.

Hello Paul, Unfortunately, it's common not to get a response back from a recruiter or HR rep after submitting an application. Many attribute the silent treatment to the high volume of applicants for each job opening. I have found success re-entering the job market through temp agencies in the past. The temp experience is different for everyone but worth the try if you can't find a permanent job right away.

Bro, I'm in a similar situation, I've been out here pounding the pavement and not getting anything to pay the bills, I'm getting ready to get put out. What am I supposed to do? The people that do respond are not paying nowhere close to pay my bills. This country is messed up, and we have our own government to thank for this. The company I was working for last week is moving to Mexico at the end of July. I had to go through a Temp service to get that job.

Comcast is hiring!
Thank you all for the advice and suggestions, I will take a look at each and see what fits best for me. Unfortunately, leaving my state is very difficult as my wife has a great job and the benefits far exceed what companies do nowadays.
