I learned that I did not get a job due to one of my References. (5 out of 6 were good references from what i can determine) What recourse do I have? Do i have a right to see the references? Do I have a right to refute them? I don't care as much about the job, as I am of my reputation. I thought I picked all good references. Maybe someone has an axe to grind. They should hear my side of the story and not make a one sided decision. I appreciate any advise .

Sadly, you don't have a 'right' to see them, but you might be able to refute them (if the company will discuss it with you, which they're not required to do). Make sure you're "eligible for re-hire" at your previous company (call the company and ask) and only use references you KNOW will be positive.
