Senior Director

President Patriot Threads LLC

I decided to hire myself and start a business with my high school aged son to keep me sharp while I am searching for a full time position. This has allowed me to turn a very negative situation - being unemployed and having extra time, into a positive experience in that I have the time to invest into a start up with my son. This started as his high school capstone project to raise money for non-profit veteran groups - as he designed a T-Shirt and has blossomed into an LLC that is now in 7 retail locations in 2 states. I never would have seen this coming and frankly it never would have happened if I did not use the extra time to do something out of the ordinary. We are now able to reach out to non-profits around the state and across the US and provide a platform of products that they can readily use for their local fundraisers - and can run it all through our online store - which takes all the hassle out of it for them. God closes doors and opens others. I want to encourage you all to use this time to pursue something you always wanted to do while you are looking for your next full time position. Thanks - www.patriotthreads.org is my son's site. Best Craig

Craig, awesome story and congrats on turning Lemons into lemonade, grow even closer with your son and help guide him inna way that teaches him entrepreneurial skills which will carry him much further in life than any 8-5 job ever could, namely self-reliance. I was let go from my advertising agency job as a creative director 6 months ago and as it's not exactly been fun looking for another job at 50 years old and being considered too old to have fresh ideas, in many ways it's been liberating as I've been able to supplement the family income by freelancing jobs from home. I feel blessed to have a skill that doesn't require me to have to work for a company in order to get paid. I will check out your sons site and look forward to learning more about President Patriot Threads.

Good morning Mr Fernandes, I loved your YouTube posting and I shared it on by business & networking page on Facebook. I hope this helps your company get some great exposure in the Baltimore, Maryland area and possible donations to the cause in which your company stands for. Again wonderful use of time and a great father/son bonding moment. I wish you much more success in growing your company.
