Losing KinderCare
I have a top tier healthcare plan coverage for me and my daughter. She’s had some health issues with asthma so she’s been in and out of the hospital several times last year. My employee insurance coverage helped to keep my out of pocket costs low. Now we’re also losing the kindercare discount so that’s another $80-$90 a week I have to figure out a way to budget for along with job loss. Should I be looking at obamacare now? That plan didn’t make sense for us in the past because the premiums were too high with my income. Different story now. Anybody here healthcare savvy or have experience with a major life change like this?

In some states a minor child is eligible for Medicaid. You might try to apply for her.

Donna: Contact the Customer Rep agent of the current healthcare that you get through your employer. If they have an option use it.
You can't get the subsidized insurance until you don't have any insurance. That means that you don't have any insurance through your employer. or you don't have insurance with your state through Social & Human Services in your state. Then contact the Health Plan finder in your state to see whether you qualify for any plan currently available in your state. Your state may have a low income plan for those families that are in the same kind of situation that you are in. In Washington the low income plan is Apple Health. Each state has a name for their plan.
You don't really want the subsidized plan through the US government, if you can help it.

Obamacare? Yes, but I think thats been an excluded option being that trump couldn't wait to make Obamas plans totally obsolete! Try though. Also research low income medical plans if you aren't over the financial tier that is needed to receive the medical coverage that is currently needed! Try blue shield, and possibly healthnet. Pray.

Hi Donna, my heart goes out to you and to all of the Toys R Us employees. I am sure you will qualify now that you are unemployed. I have a post [here] (https://www.jobcase.com/conversations/f083d54c-8978-5278-b616-e170ef232838) you definitely want to check out on what to do NOW to help you get insurance, unemployment benefits, etc. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns! I am happy to help. My thoughts are with you and your family during this tough time.
I used PeachCare in Georgia when we were out of work. It definitely works. Don't let the children go without coverage due to misinformation. - K.D.
