I'm Retired...will age be a factor?

as stated above, I am retired and fear that my age will be a factor in gaining employment? Don't feel like I was born in 1951 and quite frankly don't look or act my age either. Being very willing to work (retirement is not for me) . Still have the energy and ability to perform that require lifting and standing. Being Bi-lingual in English and Spanish (with no Accent) can be very helpful in many situations while engaging with customers and the public.

the short answer YESOne would think that with your experience it wouldn't be an issue, but one would be WRONG. I was born in 1955,so I'm 63 and I lost my job,no fault of my own.I've worked for the same company; SEARS for over 38 years, but when my store closed on Sept 3rd, 2017 that was it and in fact I wasn't offered to go to another store.I was on a severance pay for ONLY 4 weeks cause we were paid bi-weekly.that ended in May,but went on unemployment in Nov-June,so I had to apply for SSI, which helps but NOT enough.I've been to over 4 interviews and they didn't pay that well; $ 7.50-maybe 9:50 per hour and I've filled out so many applications, with NO CALLBACKS,so again YES I DO think that AGE PLAYS A HUGE part in it

Age will absolutely be a factor if you BELIEVE it will be. Keep the spirit I feel in your post, and I believe you'll be surprised. I've heard ALMOST all the BIG "D" categories there are: It's age, it's weight, it's height, it's skin color, its gender. Not all, but most complaints are inserted into the situation by the complainer. You just go full speed ahead, and nail that Job!

Since you are bi-lingual have you considered doing ESL ( English as a Second Language) teaching? It might work out. I'm 60 and just became an EMTB and have that skill for volunteering. You can still get out, be active , and enjoy life by volunteering. There are many opportunities out there!

Age will be a factor but they will ever so discreetly try not to admit that. God bless you!!

But, would you like the work if they discriminate against people for age, nationality etc etc. That is just the tip of the ice burg about toxic environments. Sometimes good jobs in healthy work environments come along. I am ready for that and I am 3 years older than you.

Disagree. Age discrimination is alive and well. Have experienced it first hand.
