Disappointment
I was scheduled for prescreening and training at a security company today at 9 am. I made it there from Alief by 3 buses (boarded 1st bus at 6:10) at 8:32 am. I had to walk about 7 mins before approaching the building. I was the first candidate to arrive. I've worked with the company before but at a different location over 6 years ago, of which I listed on my application. I was greeted by a guy who asked for my i.d and social security card to make copies. I asked him was this (Greenspoint/North Houston) their only location. He answered yes. I then told him that I used to work for the company about y or 7 years ago and that the location I did the app and trained at was on the southwest side of Houston. He said that office is no longer operated. He then went to the back for about 2 mins. He came back and told me, "I went to see if we could pull your file to speed up the process since you said you worked with us before and unfortunately she said we have a no rehire policy". [Insert Scooby Doo's confused sound] I'm thinking, "Who is she?" because "she" never came to the front. I asked him did they not fully look over my application and see that I said I worked with the company before. I was turned away by someone who didn't take the time to speak with me face to face. (even though HE was trying to help) This "file" probably wasn't there anyway, being that it was at a different location and many years ago. I contacted corporate to get a better understanding. This wasn't an interview. I was practically hired if I was about to undergo training. And I turned down another interview yesterday that was scheduled for today. Now I wished I had kept that one.

Why would you want to work for them? CLEARLY AS DYSFUNCTIONAL as you illustrated the firm's practices, YOU DON'T WANT TO BE THERE! With record unemployment levels every where, it is a EMPLOYEE market, not a EMPLOYER market.
Also, in too many cases, all H.R. is unproductive filter to screening out sought-after candidates because they didn't dot an i in term paper 8 years ago. The actual hiring managers in each area are just as ticked off with their H.R. Departments, because they will not provided the qualified candidates their divisions desperately need. Mentioning being a former employee, in this case, unfortunately screened your application out.
FYI Screen out future situations. When the next firm request a interview, strongly request that you are only interested in interviewing with a division or department associates, NOT a H.R. representative. If a division or department associate is not available for the internet, move on. Too often H.R. do not have the foggiest idea of what qualifications, experiences, training and traits their departments actually need. Explain that you are CURRENTLY INTERVIEWING with other firms, and accordingly, "you can not afford to engage in unproductive time consuming exercises". Otherwise interviewing with H.R. is just a opportunity for them to eliminate you.

I didnt read the whole thing but it Sounds like a completely run around. . Welcome to corporate America. . My suggestion: Find a position where you can grow your Network of affiliations, find your God given talent and expand it, brand it and sell it.. then go buy them out! It will be the hardest and most rewarding thing you've ever done but if you can't beat them, buy them! Lol

Well my outlook on that is why they just now checking your information now. That should have been done before they called you for training.

Renada - Try not to be disappointed and just be thankful that you were not hired. You may want to definitely consider other options. You deserve much better than what was experienced. It doesn't surprise me anymore with some of the behaviors that exhibited by organizations and the people that are in place to handle these matters. SMH

Yes put it on FB and ask people to share!

That sounds like some form of discrimination to me.

Forget this Company and job. If they have employees that behave like that in the employment process you don't want to work for them. Expose their names and Company name on social media. There are better companies and a whole lot more jobs coming. It's the Trump era of full employment.

This is the very reason why WE need to have another labor movement in this country.

Man that's so messed up
They wasted her time.
