PT with FT Hours
I was originally hired as a part time general laborer. The supervisor told me to expect something like 20-25 hours per week. I took the job while I continued to look for full time work. The last 3 weeks I have been scheduled for 40 hours. I’m not complaining at all. This is awesome!! I don’t want to see it stop. Should I talk to the supervisor about making me full time with benefits if he continues to schedule me full time? I don’t want to make a move too soon and jinks my good luck. Anyway let me get back to work but please let me know what you think.

Are they hiring full time positions at the company now? Look there first and apply for a full time job. That’s going to let the managers know you are interested in FT permanently. It’s a plus for the company too because it shows labor that they promote from within.

Wait for the 90 or 120 day job performance evaluation to bring it up. Companies get busier this time of year so there is a good chance that you will continue to get more than PT hours during the next few months.

You must be doing something right at work if you're getting all those extra hours. I say just continue working hard and wait for the boss to approach you first.

Brayden, For sure, Tell your boss you know you are new but the full time hours are awesome and you were wondering if you could keep to a full time schedule. Be polite and take your boss aside and ask him. Tell hm you really like this job and if you go back to part time you will have to find a second part time job. Best of luck. Lisa Renwick
If you continue to prove yourself as a dependable and quality employee, being hired permanently could just happen automatically. Of course it does not hurt to let the boss know you are very interested in a permanent position but your work will speak for itself and they will not want to lose you. Good luck!
