What's the Problem...
with being over-qualified? Wouldn’t it benefit employers to hire applicants that can hit the ground running on a new job. I think this should be considered good hiring practice nowadays with all the news around corporate cutbacks on new hire training programs and onboarding. Yeah, there’s concern about affordability, boredom, and employment longevity but there’s still a lot of overqualified job seekers out there willing to sacrifice all these for a steady paycheck and an opportunity to grow with a company. I should know… I’m one of them.
Recruiters are afraid you’ll get bored and leave right away. Attitudes change quickly in a short period of time. Yeah you might be willing to compromise pay and meaningful work now but in 3 months you’ll just be another disgruntled worker.
There are several reasons this is like that. I just quit a job that I was way over qualified for to take a better paying job that I'm slightly over qualified for but I was only at the 'platform job' for 4 weeks. That move is why people sway away from the over qualified candidates. Also the fear of being beaten out of their position,other employee response, your input as a person equally or more qualified than them even are some of the huge factors. It's hard to train someone, at times, that come so complete. People are not like winning a fully furnished home, the stuff you don't like in them cannot just be thrown away or donated,you are basically stuck with someone used to being your equal or better. For some it's a blessing for some it's a curse.
I hear you man but companies don’t want to pay. I recently went to a job interview for a job I could do in my sleep but the pay rate was way below the industry median average.
I work 2 jobs .I resign walmart. 5 moths ago steel work for publix. They fire me because used to worke for wallmart. What do you all think about
Don’t settle because in the long run it’s not worth it. Keep looking for a better job.
