Feeling discouraged
I was let go from a company in early July after misaligning with management (last day was agreed on in June). I was given too many tasks to do and when I politely asked to delegate tasks to other people, my manager was really rude about it and said she could no longer guarantee a set amount of hours on my contract.
Fast forward, I am now working a seasonal job at Target to pay the bills and I am feeling really defeated. I have been applying to marketing jobs (my forte) ever since I learned I was being let go. I keep having interviews but no job offers other than Target and Ikea. I have a Master's degree in International Communications, and I cannot seem to find a role that suits my experience. I am 25, highly educated, adaptable, and have experience in marketing program management, strategy and social media marketing. I just want something that is applicable to my background and doesn't have me on my feet for 8 hours a day.

With education like that, you will find a great job. It will be worth the wait. Keep up the job search. Most businesses wont begin hiring for advanced placement until the enter their Q2 fiscal year in May.

I say you have a lot of potential. You seem to be in the middle of a storm,. Keep goin.. It will stop and there will be a beautiful rainbow,.Don't give up.

Hello Katelyn..so sorry that you faced this situation. Don't give up. You have a good experience it seems..try for PR jobs, event management Look for Local wise, ziprecruiter, jobotome, career bliss and if I remind of others l can tell you. Just put the correct keywords. Also try for marketing and communications in NGOS as well
All the best

Try a placement agency in your area, they will get you in the door asap.

Hi i would like to say things in life happens and things happens for a reason. And i do believe why your boss gave you the over load is that she couldn't come to your directly and tell you that she wants to fire you so she had to find something to tell you and trust me she is going to give that position to someone else. But don't worrie about it. Look at it like this something better is going to come your way, we must take the good with the bad and the bitter with the sweet. This is how life is designed too be. And don't allow these people too get the best of you as if they have defeated you. and the only way you can be defeated is when you allow what these people tell you get the best of you. you may have to work at target or ikea for a minute but that is ok because at least you have a job to work at to pay your bills at least your rent and ect is getting paid but in the mean time don't stop putting out your resume, because you mite just find what you are looking for and also paying your a bit more than that job that let you go. just be patience and work your job like nonething has happen and keep focus and your spirits as well and when you least expected something will be coming through the door better for you. AND I DO WISH YOU THE BEST BEST JUST HOLD ON AND WHEN YOU GET THAT NEW JOB PLEASE GIVE AN UPDATE.

Start your own business. Cut out the middle man B.K.A the employer

As someone suggested check with HR at Target for permanent full-time higher level position that would allow you to use your marketing skills and education. Do not take any more low level retail jobs after this or you will find it more difficult to get the job you want. If Target not interested in you, than keep applying for higher level jobs where you can use your skills and experience. Apply for jobs at or above the level you were at at your last job. Good luck.

C'est l'injustice qui peut blesser ( et/ou ) decourager uniquement....Au lieu de faire ce que vous pouvez & laisser le manager lui meme prend la decision de demander a' autrui de t'aider...ne jamais se substituer ...

It's all about timing. Stay with it. It'll happen.
So, smile, learn what you can from current situation and ask yourself...what would my father do?
