What do you Want From Me!!!
I recently graduated from a truck driving school and I have been applying like crazy. Finally, I got a job at driving company. For the next three weeks, I received a trainer who would be with me on the road. What the company failed to realize this trainer was in the sleeper most of time and was not much help to me at all. One night I got into a minor accident because the car was in my blind spot, but no one was injured. As a result, I was fired and back to job searching. How can I get pass this and get a future employer to understand?

Unfortunately they only fired you to keep the insurance rates from going up.

They wont you r done trucking ... im sorry wish someone would have been blunt with me!!!

As a Wife of a truck driver and Mother of two Sons that drive trucks. Truck driving isn't for everyone. It is a hard business. I don't know how much your trainer was sleeping. I do know that if you were driving doubles he was probably having to do some of the driving too, is that correct? Whether he was sleeping or not he would't have been able to avoid the accident. You will not always have someone watching every move for you. And it stinks you got fired but companies do that because you are now considered a risk. One of my Son's went to driving school and the other didn't. The one that went to driving school drove for companies that ran him all over the place with little home time. He even owned his own truck at one time. But now after 8 years has given it up. My other Son who was self taught has done really well. Owns his own truck . So I as you can see I am familiar with the trucking industry. Lost my Husband in 1986 in a truck accident. It is a stressful job and you have to be on your toes all the time. I did a little driving myself. I hope you are able to find another job but I have to be honest with you, that accident is going to hurt you and the fact that you don't have a lot of experience. I would go back to the trucking school and see if they could help you, maybe give you a refresher course. Most of these schools are suppose to help you find a job anyway. Best of Luck.

Every trucking company is hurting for drivers. Just find one that accepts students. Those accidents are expected by the owners. Just be truthful, you'll get hired

First question, did you sign the ticket? I have a friend who have been a truck driver for twenty years. Have an accident with a company driver training you. Normally the ticket go to the company. You should have open your mouth and told the boss you need a new trainer. Remember your life was in his hands been a new driver.

Just tell them how it was be honest with the company trying to find a place where they tag team just got to be honest with them u will find one that is going to be true to you but u cant be scared to do it again. Try lebo I have friends who are employed there and they love it

I'd leave it off your resume. Another thing, don't be afraid to speak up of your training song doing their job. Speak up. Make sure you speak to them first, just camly explain that you need them to be alert and actually train you. If they don't losten, go to your manager or supervisor. You deserve to have good training.

It will be in your DAC report plus you were terminated by safety its gonna be hard for any job to hired you

Most of the applications will say the reason why you left the job.and i aways write down. I would like to explain in person.because i think you can explain better in person than writing it down.hopefully it helps.and also if you wasn't your fault in the accident the DMV report would say not at fault.sorry about your bad training and we as driver's we all after get miles behind the wheel. Starting out in the beginning its a rough road but haug in there.
