Why are they taking so much of my money from me??
Why is this such a problem?? I have a question so I finally received my unemployment in early November after filing in August, but they take a lot from me?? I can’t find anything that says I owe them back pay?? I do owe child support but they are taking over half of my check?? I try calling a hundred times a day but I can’t ever get through and usually it just hangs up on me?? #money #unemploymentissue

Hi @Sarah Paye , New York Unemployment can deduct up to 50% of your weekly benefits if you have an outstanding child support balance, unfortunately. You may be able to file a petition to ask if they can modify your deductions. Take a look at the Child Support information page on the New York state unemployment website for more information. https://childsupport.ny.gov
