AGE DOES MATTER
If you think AGE isn't a disqualifier, think again. I've put in 30+ applications in the last 2 months, even for liw level retail jobs, and can't even get an interview. I've always worked hard, a college graduate, can do the work of 2-3 people, learn extremely fast and climb their ladder once I'm in. But reach the age of 60 and it's bye bye brother. Employers don't even want to talk to you. I was better off where I came from. AZ is for retired people only, not seniors who still have what it takes.

That is the truth, its hard to find a job if you are over 60. I am smart and have a lot more stamina than the young staff I supervised, but no one will talk to you.

I shall continue to look upon the hills and mountains where their cometh my life line....Thanks for your food for thought .We can still contribute to others development mainly because of our passion.

Age discrimination inaction is everywhere and in every I dustry. I turned 70 this September. I have 40 plus years in high-level, fast-paced paralegal positions for oil and gas, insurance, accounting, transportation, and much more to include forming my own transportation company for handicap, elderly, and for low socio-economic patients for 14 years, am a publisher, author, and world-wide mail order religious retail business. For three or more months, I have submitted many, many resumes to apply for just about every position. My age stops me even though I am in better health than 10 years ago, look like I'm 50, very computer savvy, have Bachelor and Associate degrees, have excellent command of written and oral communications. So you see what I mean? But I will never give up. I place myself in the loving and gentle hands of Our Lord; whatever His Will is, I shall obey and thank Him. A blessed Chrustmas to you all. Keep your chin up, smile, ask Our Lord for His help, pray, and keep on interviewing, but put all your trust in Him.

I hear you brother!

Just a question, how would someone know your age by your application? Are you putting the year of graduation? How far back does your resume go? You resume should really only be one page.

Sheila, I feel your pain. I'm 53 and have sent at minimum 80 resumes at last count. I am trying not to loose hope or faith but it's hard. I wish you all the best in the new year. Let's stay strong and carry on.

AGE DOES MATTER! I’m 59 and I mad as well be 79!

For my age They don’t want to hire a older person so I have a hard time finding work I think Age should not matter only if we can do her job and do it right

Try to find as many jobs as possible. Hopefully you’ll be able to find something and get hired.
I looked for a year and finally got something. It doesn't require a degree and I have several, including a doctorate. I thought I was retired, but I had to find a job because I lost so much. I'm 69 and got a job as a receptionist in in a large medical group. I'm grateful... it's kinda funny that I am now doing what I did in my first office job (different setting, though) when I was 18. I guess my age cancels out my experience and education. And so i goes...
