Mismatched requirements
What's the deal with ridiculously mismatched job requirements with positions? I found a lab job that wants higher than 3.2 gpa however the pay and tasks don't reflect what they desire. All the tasks are extremely basic and for someone like me who's worked in a lab for 12 years knows a person doesn't need to be a rocket scientist to perform them. Yes a science degree is necessary however not necessarily a high gpa. And for a pay range of 15-18.50 an hour it's kind of ridiculous. Most science degreed people out of college can do these tasks. I applied for it but my gpa is not that high. I had one bad class in college that killed my gpa but that was over 10 years ago so I feel my experience at my current position proves otherwise. It's also frustrating because I have to apply for these basic positions for a little more money because I don't have all the fancy instrument experience required by jobs I should be doing with my years of experience because my current company keeps me down because I'm so good at my job.
Your right that is frustrating! Since your really good at your current job, speak to your manager about your career and how much of a benefit it would for the company for you to advance. You might have to work a little harder and learn new skills on top of your responsibilities, but try it!
