Hi Morris, This happened to my dad recently, who is also a programmer with 30+ years of experience. He found success 2 ways: working with a temp agency (they have established relationships with companies, so they can be the go-between) and - if going directly - telling the employer up front that you 'want to try something new.' The latter works because if you explain you'll 'have to (essentially) start from the beginning because the new job is unfamiliar', it makes more sense to the employer that you'll start fresh & be in a mindset to learn.
