Was my degree worth it?

I graduated with my BS in criminal justice. I was HOPING to get something by now, but my LACK of experience doesn't help. SO, what do I do? I have work experience and I've been volunteering, but I guess it's not enough.

You may want to write to your local congressman about the H1 abuse and how Bank of America as well as several of the nations large employers have pretty much "outsourced" everything to companies that have promised them H1's, and the positions sit unfilled waiting for the H1's. Write to your local politician, ask them to kill that H1 program.

Owner Paralegal at Doma Paralegal Services

Without knowing where you live, the best advise I can give (I am also currently pursuing a BS in Criminal Justice/Legal Studies, but concentrating more on legal studies) is to approach your police departments. That is, after all, what you got your degree for. Apply to the FBI, if your grades where high enough they look for people to employee into programs. You can also look at becoming a process server, but check in your state to see if you need a license (I know in my state and the state next door you need to be licensed to be a process server.). You can also check with your state court houses to see if they need people. Also, and this is a long shot...think of paralegal work.

Your degree was worth it! Have you thought of applying for jobs via the Recent Graduate Program with usajobs.gov.? Also. AmeriCorps is a great way to volunteer. You'll receive a living allowance and other benefits, plus receive an education award to help pay off student loans, and gain valuable experience that you can use to apply for federal jobs, or other jobs after your assignment ends.
