Not everyone understands
Trucking is not a job it’s a lifestyle am I right? Sounds stupid but it’s true. You work long ass hours, see some of the most beautiful sights in the world and some of the worst. You eat bad food on the road but meet good people. To me the road is home, always has been. You shouldn’t truck if you just need a job, because you’re setting yourself up to fail. You truck because you’re ready for a challenge and you want to make a change in your life. Anyone with me on this? Looking forward to meeting some other truckers on here.

Been trucking since 63, off and on, mostly on, Never said I liked it but I've never been hungry or worried about a job. It's a way of life that's not for everyone but I will add I've met a lot of good people I can now call friends.

Cdl but gave it a year and did something else

Hi Mike I trained as a truck driver and had to see Dale but you know what those people on the road are horrible they don’t give a damn about you I thought it was gonna be like smoky in the bandit and a big group of people that stick together but now are you get are people that don’t give a damn and would rather step on you rather than help you become a Roddy is just free hi Mike I trained as a truck driver and had to see Dale but you know what those people on the road are horrible they don’t give a damn about you I thought it was gonna be like smoky in the bandit and a big group of people that stuck together but now are you get are people that don’t give a damn and would rather step on you rather than help you.

Drove truck 47 years , quit the road as these new breed of truck drivers think they own the road. Back in the day we would stop and help a driver broke down . Not today , they don't even slow down for you. Very few will even let you know if the chicken coop is open.

You got that right. Little less than 20 years under my belt. It is a lifestyle. Not just a job & paycheck

I respect Al you road drivers I did it 5 years not for me drive local now

Trucking is a job, nothing more-nothing less

Trucking is a life-style. If, you just do it to get paid, I guess 3 years and you're doing something different. If, you call the road your home, then you are doing what you want, where you want to do it, enjoy. 2009, 10 years, 1 million miles later, the road is my home!

My name is Robert and I own a 14ft box truck that I need air freight with hauls 6 regular sized skids and good for 6000lbs. If you know someone let me know not dock high though but have skid puller and chain for unloading. Help!
you're correct in it being a lifestyle that wears many hats within that position and its not for everyone due to the conditions that come with it that are ever changing from climate conditions, traffic jams, road conditions and a lot more. I've got over 35 years in the game and the reason I say it's a lifestyle is due to one never leaves the job when you're on the road weeks and months at a time. Truckers are in league of their own. Anyone who goes home every day and punches a time card for pay has a job and those who spend most of their time away from home working and yet get to leave there job behind on a daily have a career but an over the road truck driver never gets the opportunity to leave the job unless the company one drives for pays for a room every night or day or an owner operator does the same but out of his own pocket for the same luxury as the company guy and its a tax right off for the company as well as the owner operator. In most cases it a driver never gets to leave his or her post unless its to shower or to eat or both in which to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. One would have to try it in order to see the difference and get the true understanding of why its not just a job but a lifestyle
