Starting Out
Recently, I've been looking for a job. I'm only 16 years old and it seems that not many people want to hire someone without much experience. How do I go about trying to find a job in this case? Also, how do I stand out from others who want the same job and position?

I would suggest checking with your local grocery stores, movie theaters, fast food restaurants community programs, and retail stores such as Target. You can see if any of these places are hiring by going in person or using the following steps:
If you want to stand out, you'll want to be responsive, professional and polished. When you submit your application, call the location back after a few days to check up on your candidacy. Make sure you're polite, patient and friendly over the phone. If you get called in for an interview, make sure you arrive at least 10-15 minutes before it begins. You'll want to be dressed nicely, but conservatively for your interview. In your interview remain polite and responsive. Answer all questions to the best of your ability. If you have questions at the end of your interview, make sure you ask your interviewer in a friendly manner. After your interview, send a quick thank you email to your interviewer thanking them for their time. If you don't hear back from the interviewer after a week, make sure you call them back. Emphasize that you're excited about the position and would like to hear any news when they make a decision. If they email you for any reason, make sure to respond within 24 hours. Interviewees of any age would benefit from following these steps, but if you can manage to follow them at 16, you'll really stand out! Best of luck!
