Background check causing employers to not give 2nd chances

I have applied to 117 jobs in the past two months. Due to a conviction of 16 years ago I can not get employment with any company. I know now why recidivism is an issue. FYI. Most people who have been incarcerated for a length of time are the BEST employees. Dependable, Reliable, and most importantly receiving financial benefits at the end.
Good news is there are organizations that will help felons find employment opportunities with big companies. CEO and Public Strategic in Oklahoma City are the best in 2nd chance employment. Don’t lose hope

If your felony charge is able to be expunged maybe look into that. It depends on the state laws and how severe the conviction was.

Even if you are a convicted felon .. If the felony does not pose a risk.. Such as for robbery or theft and applying in a retail store where you would handle money... That would be a conflict.

But if the job has nithing to do with the nature if the felony.. This this is discrimination people.

Do not put up with this shit.

Everyone makes mistakes. Let he who has made no mistakes throw the first stone.

Stephanie.. I believe the employers that are rejecting your application based on background checks are breaking the law.

Unless you are applying for jobs that pay 70 000 a year and more the background check should go back 7 years.

I dealt with this same issue for many years and it caused me more grief than I care to remember.

Now the laws are actually MORE in your favor and if this is what is happening to you I would file a complaint against the employers with the Eeoc. You have rights.. But you have to know what they are and to fight for them.

Ok.. Do it today

Best of luck to you and keep us posted.

Thanks .
