What to put on Resume

I started 25 year my career in the hospitality industries. This is an industry if you succeed you learned how to plan systems like kitchen design, menu design, customer service, plumbing, marketing, d=sales budgets, and information system backwards and forward. I can write a budget and analyze while budgets fail and have the ability to create ideas that may fix them. Then I attended UMKN Block School Of Management and Have no ideas what to put on the resume now that I have calculous, stats, business accounting, and contract law mastered. I have mastered the art of team building from 14 year olds to vets. I have mastered the art Rockfest from ordering, selling, to returning 1.8 million dollars in beverage sales in 9 hours. Then have it all cleaned up in four days. So what do I out on my resume, Now I learned how to build and tweak applications and systems to assist in any types of business. What I put in my resume. I want to work a non-profit or small business that could use a very experienced professional, customer service, IT, Hands on manager, and have a great education at 43. I am looking for great companies as well companies with an open mind to grow with society, sustainability, and future vision in the beginning stages of development. Any idea what kind of opportunities are out there? How does 25 of experienced as executive chef, restaurant manger, and as project relate to college experience?

I'm there with you , no College or Certifcates, but worked my way up through big company to work for c level. Most of my training in management came through internal courses and training seminars. I'm 60 have great references and have saved millions for the companies I have worked for. How you market yourself is the key. If your target companies are smaller in size expect to work for less. But most importantly get your resume done professionally and show your accomplishments. I worked in It program management , project management , contract management , implementation projects and sourcing . So it's really what you want to sell yourself . the opportunities that may present themselves to you then require good interviewing skills.. Look to include soft kills and tech skills that are needed in the work place in your resume . Don't submit to Internet HR systems because you will get dropped to folder within system that does not get you past the system screening. Research companies that you would like to get into, find a contact and send to directly. You are looking to get in door, or if you have a network of folks you have worked with send your resume to them. Some of it sounds old fashioned but you have to beat the technology to get to decision makers.

Hi Allan - Congratulations! It sounds like you have accomplished a great deal. Here are a few suggestions I'd like to offer:

  1. Make sure that your resume is started with a compelling "Objective" that clarifies the type of role you're interested in.
  2. List your education, classes, and certifications at the top of your resume so that employers can see that you have taken great steps to further your career in that area.
  3. Highlight the experience that you do have an make sure to list out the roles that you've held and highlight any and all features and accomplishments while also using them to highlight what benefits you would bring to the roles you're applying for. I think that's a good place to start, please reach out if you have any additional questions! Good luck!

Work experience, skills, education, and accomplishment are basic pieces of information found on a resume. The career and training information you have outlined in your message is a good start.
