References checked but no offer yet....

This is sort of an update to another posting of mine concerning references and a job that really, really, really want! If anyone has thoughts or advice to the situation, I'm all ears!!

Anyway I found out that both my references were contacted, and they both said they gave me 5-star reviews. My one ref even said that they were speaking very high on me and that he would be very surprised if I didn’t get the job. Great news!!!

Well, fast forward to now, a week and half later, and nothing! I followed up with the hiring manager last week and got a wish washy response saying that they are working through some "internal red tape" but I’m still in the running.

I'm trying to stay positive but the waiting and not knowing is sooo frustrating, and I don't really know what to think. This company is a very large health care company so maybe there’s some approval process they have go through that's taking longer than expected?!! I guess that’s what hoping for! But I’m thinking I'm going to move on after this week if I don’t hear anything. I don't know why it would take this long to make a decision when my references were 5-star reviews!

Thanks for reading!

Remember references are just part of the process. If a large healthcare company. There will be a criminal background check, they do on everyone. If you are clean no worries, those are outsourced by the way and in some states they can take up to 3 weeks to come back. And often until they come back they will not order the drug screen. So even though your references are golden you are playing the wait and wait came. Stay strong! And if you are working in any area of invoicing for healthcare then there will be a financial/credit background check add another week to craziness.

Always keep trying with a Smile

I have had this happened. Except, I put so many applications out. I did not remember to which companies. One of my references told me that got a call. They shined me up like a pretty penny,. In their words fantastic. LOL. They said it was for an important company. I received a call from them for an interview. They seemed impressed, and I haven't heard back from them. I see that it is ok. I landed another job. Great pay and hours. I love the people.

If it's a job you really, really, want then I know it feels like every phone call puts you on pins and needles, time is measured in seconds which seem like hours and the postwoman never seems to come soon enough. I keep thinking about my credit, my email account, and my smartphone. Even spam phone calls must be answered. Don't focus on the job, as hard as that sounds. I went fishing this morning and wrote an outline for my newest resume. I didn't catch any fish but I enjoyed listening to the water rush over the rocks and watching the birds build their nests. The point I'm trying to make is to widen your focus, resist the temptation to tunnel in on that job you really, really, want and appreciate the process. I think of job hunting is an exercise in self awareness. You identify your strengths, you review your life choices, and you place a spotlight on those who you have met in this journey that have the best things to say about you (excluding your family; who are the ones that know you best).

Hi Molly Martin it all sounds promising, but just sit tight. Make sure to apply for other jobs in the meantime and don't reach out an additional time. Wait for them to get back to you. The good news is that you impressed them and can do the same elsewhere if need be. Just stay positive and keep looking just in case this doesn't work out the way you would like it to you aren't blindsided. This happened to me once and it's a terrible feeling. Please keep us posted!! Fingers crossed for you!
