High Job Demand but employers expect you to make experience be gained out of thin air.

It's sad that I just completed training for a very high in demand career but employers want you to already have experience or they want you to be away from home for 7-14 days at a time with only a 34 hour federal mandatory reset to be able to get a job in a field that I'm trying to get into. How is one supposed to gain the experience that employers want you to have when said employers won't give you the time of day to even have the opportunity to gain the desired experience?

Hi Jennifer Keller - what kind of job are you describing? Some industries definitely want employees with prior experience as some jobs are only really able to be learned and gain the skills necessary to do the job while you are on the job. Which makes it sort of a catch-22.

If you really want to get into the industry, it sounds like you may have to ascribe to their schedule of being away from home from a period of time, just until you get the experience needed. Alternatively, you could look for another company with a more lenient policy on working.

I hope this helps! Best of luck, Jennifer, and let us know how it goes!
