Free College In NY!

I don’t live in NY but I Hope this FREE tuition plan gets passed and spreads like wildfire throughout the US. The cost of a college education has been spiraling out of control for years. I originally wanted to go to a 4 year college after high school but couldn't afford it so I went to truck driving school and got a cdl license instead. Households earning less than $125K per year are eligible to attend a city or state university for free. That income level is going to allow millions of mid to low income NYC families the opportunity to have a realistic higher education option for their children. What’s wrong with having a highly educated society anyway? Tax dollars well spent in my opinion. What do you think? http://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/03/nyregion/free-tuition-new-york-colleges-plan.html?_r=0"

What about education quality? Does NY have a big enough city and state education system to house the expected influx of new student this plan is going to attract. Are class sizes expected to double? Triple? I doubt they’ll be able to maintain quality professors in those schools with that volume of students.

Cost are always an issue with these revolutionary social ideas. NY taxpayers that don’t have children are going to complain about their tax dollar going to pay for someone else’s kid education. NY state has one of the highest income brackets in the US. They can afford it.
