GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: This is a nonexempt position. Responsible for coding and posting office and hospital procedures. Accurately assign CPT and ICD-9/ICD-10 codes by analyzing and abstracting information from dictated reports to achieve timely billing. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Research all information to ensure a complete and accurate hospital billing process. Review external charges for correct coding upon importing into Centricity Practice Management. Gather charge information from Physicians, NP’s and PA’s in a timely manner. Analyze and code procedures using current CPT and ICD-9 codes. Identify bundled codes using CCI edits. Charge hospital rounds and verify global periods. EDUCATION:
Minimum: Some college, preferably with an emphasis on Medical Coding, Medical Terminology, and Basic Human Anatomy.
EXPERIENCE :
Three years of experience in medical office with an emphasis on medical coding.
Certificate/License: ** Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required by American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

I have prior Medical Office Administrator experience in Podiatry, Dermatology, OB-GYN, and Family Medicine. Additionally, I am a licensed Insurance Agent with carrier claims and customer service experience and a recent degree in Healthcare Administration with emphasis in Management. Would you be so kind as to recommend a school that would offer courses to prepare for certification/licensing?
