We were in office and a disgruntled taxpayer came in for information. His business was assessed for Excise Tax for over one Million dollars and he was advised by the Excise officer to come to the office and make arrangements to pay. He was upset because the business was not operating for the period assessed. I advised him to object to the assessment, since he was not satisfied, as it was his right to do so. He submitted his objection and the amount assessed was fully discharged, making him happy. I felt good as I was able to inform him of his rights under the law.
