Has anyone been contacted by this company in the USA to be a Account Financier ? Where you accept checks by US customers convert them to cash and send to the UK for a fee ?
Hello! I was contacted a few weeks ago by a person claiming to be Georgina Laker (Board of Directors with GBL) asking me to convert checks for them. I did receive 2 checks (Totaling $1,800) from Texas both were fraudulent, no account at bank drawn on. I had gone up to my bank (PNC) and went inside and told them I was skeptical of the checks and ask how long will it take for them to clear. The person I ask told me 24 hours...which is incorrect....I ended up being charged back $1,800.00 to my account. I am currently fighting with my bank over this.....it is a SCAM.. I also, early on, sent an e-mail to GBL in England regarding this deal, no answer to the e-mail was ever received.
No, and NO. Don't do it especially when it is a phone call and you haven't signed up for any thing like this. Call you local police department and share this information with them. You didn't give them any information, Praise God. But I still would call them and they hopefully will guide you in the right direction. Make sure you make notes: Try to get a name and/or phone number also get a phone that has "Caller ID".
It sounds like a scam. I receive email often from strangers telling g me they are notifying me of millions in inheritance waiting for me. These emails come from different countries in Africa. I'm American and never responded to the emails. I would move on, bc it smells fishy.

Hi Bruce, I'll chime in and tell you that I agree with everybody else -- this is absolutely a scam! In this modern world of computers and internet, no company on earth is going to pay a human to change money into cash and send it somewhere else unless what they are doing is illegal, in which case you could get in serious trouble for participating! It's my professional opinion that you cut all contact with this company immediately and do not give them your personal information!
