You could also call the company (which many times is real) and ask to speak to him or if they have a job opening matching the job description

Scam. They send you a fake check as 'pay' then ask you to send them money from the check before it clears. The check comes up as fake. You've sent them money you don't have and now you have to pay the. Bank back. No legit business will pay you money before all the paperwork is complete

Garth's right! If you didn't even apply or interview for the job, there is NO WAY that this check is real, or that the job is real. Do not deposit that check!
