Cleaning Technician at Mcmaid Cleaning Services

No experience

Hi everyone, I have a question I'm hoping I can get some feedback.
I have just graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in HR. I'm applying for HR assistant jobs because I don't have actual experience in HR, only my studies. Short of doing an internship, (which companies around here prefer students, not people who have already graduated), how do I go about getting HR experience so I can get into that field? How do I word it in a cover letter that although I don't have actual experience, I am willing to learn to get the experience?

Hello Mary, I'm new to job case, I've been looking for groups to join. After joining, I decided to post my concerns and ask for assistance as well. I notice your post. I know it's been almost a year. I was wondering if any of the advice helped?

Technical Writer Human Resource Assistant at Adecco

Start with Administrative Assistant Jobs, a lot of times in this position, in smaller companies you will assist in HR giving you the experience you need to get your foot in the door. Also go through a Temp agency, just getting into an office will help you to get the experience you are looking for.

Hello Mary, I recommend getting a certification in HR (PHR - Professional Human Resources). Another thing that can assist in your quest to land a HRA Position is to going on google and search for HR Association which is where you will find a lot of CEO's, Directors and Manager are members. By doing so you will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the leaders of the companies. I hope that will help in your quest to land a position in your career field.

I agree with what everyone else has said. Another thing that you can is to research any organization that you plan to apply with. Find out an HR issue that they are facing. In your cover letter, briefly outline how you would approach that issue. Experience is not as important as actual practice.

Lead Sourcer Recruiter at Steel Point Opportunities

I can attest to the answers as i am also a job recruiter.....your best bet is find a temp agency because you work for them and not actual company so you have better chance of getting job and you gain experience at same time. Will give you ability down road to apply on own with the built up experience

Hi Mary, Why don't you try to gain some experience in the recruiting field. As a former and still looking recruiter in the light industrial staffing industry, I worked hand in hand with the HR department and gained valuable insight into their day to day operation. In many cases, a good part of my job function were all HR type functions, actions and follow ups. Been doing recruiting for almost 17 years and even though I don't have actual HR experience as per Title, I can most certainly function at a high level with just a but of training. With your education background and a little experience in recruiting, I'm sure that would help you. Just my opinion
