Is this true?

Last Monday (9/19) I applied for a Customer Service Representative position that I had seen on a staffing website. I did a pre-screening interview with the recruiter the following day. She had mentioned at the time, that the company has already started interviewing, but she would pass my information along and hopefully, I could get an interview by Friday or Monday. She indicated I should hear something from her the following day. When I followed-up with her the next day, she indicated that the company was all filled with interviews and that I had been at the tail-end of the recruitment process. She said I should hear from her by Fri (9/23) or Mon (9/26).

I have called and e-mailed the recruiter for a status and have not received any response. Part of my following up is because over the weekend, that company has now posted the position on their site.

I want to post for the position directly, but a recruiter once told me that if an employer receives multiple applications/resumes from a potential candidate , they are automatically dismissed. Does anyone know if this is true?

This is a great company, and I literally live 5 minutes door-to-door. I just want a chance to personally interview and get my foot in the door and grow from within.

Thanks All!

I was in the same position. I submitted directly with the company and got the job. I was told the process goes smoother directly without a third party involved. If the contract company is not getting the job done, I say go direct. Contractors rights usually apply when accepting the job through them.

While there are some differences between the agencies .. the real threat is having two different agencies submit you as a candidate .. because of the competing business you would most likely not even be considered .. as the company may think they could be at odds with who actually won the contract ... however, if you find a job and apply directly, you may be okay .. if's its been a while, let the agency know that you are applying directly, they would most likely have the inside information on how the company looks at these situations.

If you've already worked with the recruiter, it's not a good idea to submit on your own. You can tell the recruiter, "Hey, I see they've posted the job on their site. Did you actually submit me for the position?"

Some employers WILL disqualify candidates that are submitted for the same position more than once.

Your recruiter is trying to protect her investment and time. These recruiters are a joke. They do not.help at all. Your best bet is to talk directly with your job interest.

Hi Vivian,

Every company has different rules about this. From experience, companies typically have signed contracts/agreements with specific staffing firms that they cannot hire someone within a year of receiving their resume, unless they go through that staffing firm and pay the pre-determined finders fee. Obviously, every company is different but that is the case a lot of times. If you fall out of contact with the staffing firm and they aren't getting back to you, it may be worth reaching out to the company directly. But if they are doing a good job and helping you, there's no reason to try and jump them.
