Does anyone have any volunteer suggestions for the Holiday’s?

I have some free time this season that I’d like to spend volunteering in my community. I’m totally new to this and don’t know how to go about getting involved.

I would suggest the pediatriac cancer portion of the the hospital. Children simply amaze me their ability to live despite their disabilities.

I guess I am responding late to the post but still if you like to volunteer, there are Big brothers and Sisters programs. As well if you are interested in adding experience to your background Hospice offers a six months training program to become a volunteer. It is very involved and very through, you may find it helpful as well, overall for your life. Any big hospital or Health Facility offers many opportunities for volunteers, as greeters, to provide books , to help in gift shops, between others. Facilities that teach Arts and Crafts projects may need volunteers to assist during the classes. Orphanages in the area may need help with the children. Community Centers as I mention before they will be able to provide you with a list of Volunteer opportunities. There are some religious organizations with the community that distribute what is left of bread and pastries from local bakeries to Shelters. Fitness Centers may have as well opportunities. What they call Holidays are over, but I hope that the New Year 2016 offers you opportunities to make a difference in the community if this s what your heart tells you to do. All the best for 2016!

Any community Center or Health care centers may be able to give you a list of Volunteer opportunities. All depends of what kind of volunteer service you want to get involved with.

Kathy,

You have several possibilities:

Volunteer at Ronald McDonald House

You can serve and spend time with needy families during the holidays.

Spend time with Seniors

You could play bingo, dominoes, cards, etc. with seniors, especially those without families.

Pets

You could volunteer at a local Animal Shelter and help to get the pets adopted.

Soup Kitchen

You could volunteer to work at a soup kitchen through your local church.

Good luck!

Hello Kathy. Some suggestions would be to check into Church Nursery, which they would run background check. See about volunteering at Thrift Store as clothes sorter and tagger. Sorting clothes, looking for no tears, or stains, and pricing them. Or check into the local Homeless Shelter, i.e. Women's Shelter in the Office answering telephone calls. This is just a few suggestions l had. Sincerely, Linda Dunn You can contact me at Lindun26@yahoo.com to let me know how things go. Be blessed this Christmas Season

Your local nursing home/ rehab center is full of patients who will be lonely at Christmas. A friendly visit will definitely warm their hearts! Tamika Brown, Macon Georgia
