The fundamental disconnect in modern employment

Reid Hoffman LinkedIn CEO, says that there is "fundamental disconnect in modern employment – where companies expect commitment without offering security, and employees say they are loyal but leave when a better opportunity arises".

The solution according to Hoffman, instead of speaking about loyalty, we should define employment as a "call for duty" - where employee are expected to add value, while building their career before moving to the next thing.

I agree with adding value but just as employees jump to the next best jobs employers also jump to the next best employees. Employees don't experience any sense of ownership in the company like before. Companies no longer engage employees with defined Career tracks and mentor programs.
