Ready, willing and able!
From 2006- 2014 I have been a 1099 (sub-contractor) to a major pharmaceutical company. Company policies have changed and I am now out of work. I have been actively looking for a career in a full time position but because of my 'unique' resume and age I am unable to secure even an interview. I am getting frustrated as well as concerned that I may never be able to find a rewarding job. I have a Bachelor of Science degree and strong qualifications but I am not sure they translate on my resume or cover letters. Is there something different I should be doing?

Hi Wendy: Great question! I came from the same situation as you (1099 transitioning to full-time work). I definitely found it to be challenging, but I used my cover letter as an opportunity to explain why I was looking for traditional work (namely, I wanted to work on a team). I would suggest doing the same - alleviate any potential employer worries by showing why you'd make the seamless transition to full time. Let me know if this helps!
