Ok Auditor Credential Officer at Betterlife Counseling Services Inc

Can't Believe

I was told they didn't need my job position any more after returning from maternity leave. I worked for this counseling agency for ten years. when i returned from maternity without pay, they told me my job position is no longer needed because the agency is struggling for money. Now, i have a baby without a job. God Help me.

Oluremi, this is hard and a betrayal of you loyalty for 10 years and this company could not at least give you a severance package that is not good plus your maternity leave was unpaid. I will apply for unemployment just to keep you and the baby afloat but get some legal guidance-one who will get paid after you sue them because I know you may or may not have the funds. Stay strong!!

This is not allowed. They do not have to give you your exact job back, but legally they have to offer a job within the company. You need to check the laws in your state to see what other violations they committed. You should be able to get unemployment and I do think they also help with you additional training to put your resume. Ask what they offer. They do not tell you unless you ask. The last thing I would do is get in touch with a lawyer.

I hear everybody saying unemployment, but I would be looking for at a civil suit against these people. Unpaid maternity leave, no warning of downsizing and that your position was no longer available until you get back. It didn’t matter that we are an ‘at will’ state; there are certain steps that should have been taken and you have every right to sue for negligence and the financial hardship they are putting you through. I am not someone who is sue-happy wither for clarification- as a matter of fact, I’ve had several instances where I was well within my rights to sue AND win for various cases that I’ve never pursued, but this is one I wouldn’t let go. You have to think of your family now.

Customer Account Representative at Consumer Cellular

In 1990 i was engaged to my soul mate. We found out i was pg. He died in a car wreck when i was 2mos pg. I had 2 other children and devastated. I worked at a hospital in a supervisory position. When i gave birth to my son, looks just like his dad, after my maternity leave was up i asked if i could work part-time. I was told no and i said fairwell. Im not sharing my story for sympathy but i know now i survived having been a single mom to 3 awesome adults now. I know things happen for a reason but you have a baby and even if u have to sacrifice its more important to stay home w your child. I went back to school and did better financially than working. Keep the faith you will get through this and something will be better!!!

I am retired and still got fired. During my course, I never wanted to file for unemployment , because , there is no benefits or incentive, no vacation, no break and the goodies. I am bless, in the way approaching 68 and is preparing to get back into the workplace. I will like to work until I die. Unemployment is an alternative .... but ??
