I am in line for a promotion to make the jump from an operational position to the management position. I have been promoted once within the operational position band and wasn't sure if I should be expecting a higher raise now that I am being promoted to a new band of responsibility. I wanted to reach out to the community to see if they have had similar experiences with being promoted to a management level position

Hi Michael, That's great news! I know with some companies it is hard to make that leap. So, congrats on doing so! As for a change in compensation, it really depends a lot on the company. Most of the time, there is a bump in salary with a promotion, but there's no guarantee that it will be a larger bump when jumping up to a new strata. Sometimes companies want to see how you perform in the role before rewarding you further. When the time comes, my suggestion would be to have an honest conversation with your supervisor or HR department to understand what you can expect. Good luck and let us know how it's going. Best, Matthew
